David Harbour Is Ready To Move On from Stranger Things

Stranger Things’ David Harbour is more than ready to turn in his badge and gun as the flagship Netflix series approaches its highly anticipated final season this November (via SuperHeroHype)
David Harbour has played the role of the beloved (and undeniably rugged) Police Chief Jim Hopper on Stranger Things since the show’s inception in 2016. In a recent conversation for Interview Magazine with his Thunderbolts co-star Scarlett Johansson, Harbour itted that whilst his iration for the show doesn’t falter, he’s left to wonder:
“How much more story is there?” Expressing that after a decade-long run, he’s ready to take a risk: “I want to do something people haven’t seen me do before.”
Johansson offered her decade-long commitment to playing Black Widow for Marvel as a comparison, explaining that the role has left her feeling “a little cagey” as an actor, her identity being associated to one job for such a long time.
“It’s the same with show,” Harbour agreed. “There’d be certain seasons where you feel like, ‘I’m going to go in a different direction.’ But as you say, a piece of your psyche is occupied with this group of people and this storyline. I don’t paint my nailed, but I get that idea of ‘I can’t get a haircut’ or ‘I can’t shave this freaking moustache.”
Whilst we’ll miss seeing Hopper onscreen, it’s totally understandable for Harbour to be eager to take on new projects, and as he hangs up that chief uniform one last time, we’re excited to see what he does next.
Stranger Things: Season 5 will release on Netflix in 3 volumes:
- Volume One: November 26th
- Volume Two: December 25th
- Volume Three: December 31st
(We know what we’ll be doing this Christmas…)
