‘Godzilla x Kong’ Sequel Adds Kaitlyn Dever To Cast

Kaitlyn Dever set to battle Kong and Godzilla

Deadline is reporting that Kaitlyn Dever (Unbelievable, Dopesick) is in negotiations to the cast of the sequel of Godzilla x Kong.

The new film will be the latest installment in Legendary’s Monsterverse and is described as a continuation of the franchise that will centre Godzilla, Kong and a variety of other Titans. Reportedly, Legendary will introduce several new human characters, however, no information on these characters, including Dever’s has been revealed at the time of writing. There are also no reports as of yet as to whether any of the cast of the previous installments will return.

Grant Sputore (I Am Mother) will be directing from a script by Dave Callaham (Shang-Chi, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse).  Callaham is returning to the franchise after writing the story for 2014’s Godzilla.

Beginning with Godzilla in 2014, Legendary’s monster franchise is still going strong ten years later with installments Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Godzilla Vs. Kong (2021) and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024). The franchise has made over $2.5 billion worldwide, with the most recent instalment Monarch: Legacy of Monsters for Apple TV +.

Dever will next be seen in the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us as Abbey Anderson. No release date for the Godzilla x Kong has been announced.
